Recently, the No. 1 Institute of Geological Prospecting has discovered a large rare metal niobium tantalum deposit in the depths of Daqingshan, which is stacked in layers in Zhaojinggou, Wuchuan County. The amount of niobium (Nb2O5) and tantalum (Ta2O5) mineral resources exceeds 2000 tons.
The preliminary survey shows that the ore body is controlled by structural fissures and its shape is relatively simple. It is vein-like, trending from north to west, and leaning to the southeast. The thickness of boreholes is between tens and hundreds of meters, and the ore body is relatively rich. The Ta2O5 content in local ore bodies reaches 0.1%. According to estimates of some ore bodies controlled by current drilling, the amount of niobium (Nb2O5) plus tantalum (Ta2O5) mineral resources in this area exceeds 2,000 tons, of which the amount of tantalum (Ta2O5) mineral resources is estimated to reach more than 1,000 tons.
At present, the Zhaojingou niobium and tantalum ore has been controlled for more than 800 meters in length, and the thickness and grade have an increasing trend. It has been proved that there is still a lot of prospecting space in the deep. Judging from the ore-forming geological background, ore deposit type, mineralization characteristics, and geochemical anomaly characteristics, the Zhaojinggou niobium and tantalum deposit has the prospect of becoming a large or extra-large rare metal deposit.
